Bachman 2 Truck Shay DCC upgrade ESU Loksound 5XL

I’m installing an ESU 5XL in my Shay. Connecting the track, motor, speaker, cab, front & rear lights looks pretty straight forward. However, the Shay has a fire box and ash trap set of flickering lights. Should I keep the light flickeying circuit and power it from the 5XL +10v output?

Not sure the 5XL has a light flickering mode.

I was able to connect the track, motor and lights to the ESU decoder. I left the remaining items (fire box and ash trap lights, smoke generator) connected to the Bachman light board, and connected the track power on this board to the ESU 5XL +10v output and the firebox and ash trap lights worked, and the smoke generator as well.
