Ebay bargain

"tennis bad" ?

His only other item is a Mamod stationary engine.

??

Talking about the item I linked to, Greg...

Supposedly some 'railway wheels', but looks like some dodgy alloy castings, and a household sewage pipe!!

Yet another chancer here..

No way are these railway, or 100 years old!

Oh, and the second picture, the item looks like a glazed earthenware soil-pipe to me. - Especially as it has 'Doulton Limited Lambeth' stamped into it!!

That is an intriguing one. I am no expert on ceramics but the artists mark and pattern number would seem to indicate Alice S Horne, 1917. The Doulton mark does not match anything I could find.
But what are these things? Not carriage wheels as claimed, for a start they have no flanges and why have they been photographed part covered in soil?

They look like part of a drainage system, something to do with sewage filtration?

I think the alloy castings (assuming alloy, as little corrosion) are front (or back!) of an alloy wheel-rim??

I think the second picture has been added because it (sort of) looks like a rusty railway wheel? - Sort of a flange-section??
As I say, I think the second picture is an earthenware drainage pipe, partially excavated / uncovered.

These items must be genuine and this chap is to be trusted - his feedback is 100%! Take a look further and all are from sellers, I didn't see a single buyer feedback.
A friend who is a major online retailer sold me this trick some years ago. Buy any tat, as long as its incredibly cheap. The majority of the large, crap sellers automate their feedback, so done immediately on receipt of payment. So, make 200 individual purchases of stickers at a very low price inc post (usually from China) and within a short time you have glowing feedback.

The post that started off this thread - I've sent the seller a message! Politely told him that he might have the wrong impression of the loco's value and told him why!

I do this sometimes. I just can't help myself:D

Well done - I really feel like that myself. On the local Facebook "Buy, Swap, Sell" there's some real "cr@p" that should be thrown away and people put $ on it. If you comment, they ban you - as I have found out. :-)

Well done, Mick - let us know if you get a response!

Jon.

Nice one - I say another one on evilbay last night - A Stainz body 'near mint':devil::devil::devil::devil::devil:

How on earth can be it be 'near mint' when the chassis is missing?:eek::eek::eek:

It's a mint OK - one with a BIG hole in it:rofl:

There's another one of Ellis' Trains vague descriptions on a 'USAT' coach (combine).

Described as generally in good condition - well, there's a dirty great lump of plastikard for bit of the floor, no couplings, and bogies from a Bachmann 20 footer.

That firm worries me :rock::rock::rock:
