1880's Colorado Narrow gauge on 45mm track
Hi,

At last having been held up with holidays and bank holidays my Accucraft Mason Bogie has arrived! It is the green version and looks superb, and it also has a straight reach rod!

Needless to say once I had managed to get inside its almost coffin shaped carrier, and removed all the polythene packagingand admired the new addition. No 'manual' tjhough! but that can easily be rectified.as it can be downloaded off the web, and there is not much in it really for the electric versions like mine.

The bell ropes and whistle, and the loose sand pipe on the firemans side are not yet added and the (slightly bent) bolts with the springs on need reducing and a coal load added on the empty tender, which incidentally has pre drilled holes for a loudspeaker in the base.

Natuturally the camera was brought out for some photos of it and here are the first of them.

a quick photo of about half of the the packaging that Accucraft use, there is also a couple of boxes and some very nice dark grey foam.

Give the new boy something to do! Seriously the rear coupling needs to be changed is it the protypical link and pin style at the moment

and a final view.

Finally, a word or three of praise for Trackshack in the Isle of Man, theis loco was ordered ages ago, and they have been unfailingly helpful in its long assembly in China (and its long sloooow journey by conatiner boat from there) and final delivery by DHL:

The price was kept from when it was ordered about 3 or 4 years ago, and was very good indeed, and NO you are not going to be told what it was.

Thank you John for all your help & assistance through the very long wait for it - it has been worth it.

Hi Ross,
Yes the early loco drivers were siad to have that, but this colour scheme was from the factory.

As to if the green is correct cannot be ascertained - the American loco builders did not include color details in their products for us to verify them in the main Baldwins were an exception with theirt Olive Green which lasted right to the closure of the factory.

So, its believed to be correct and the railroads could specify or have what the loco maker painted their new loco in! The railroads did not have a fixed livery.

Alas virtually all were repaced by black, ferom about 1883 or so, which was easier to maintain.

wow isnt that something Peter!
just beautiful

with your consist behind, it looks like a real DSPP train indeed

ive been thinking very had about the LS tenmile, (and the 2500 us it would cost)
hows it tolerate curves?-understand that the radius is 5 ft min

what does the healight look light lighted-bright white or yellowish?
and ...do these smoke?
are you going to use hook and loops?
link and pin always scare me in the event of a derail, as they are bound to break, or worse

Looks a very nice model Peter
I like the high gloss finish i bet you need sun glasses in this weather

Hi Steve,

No smoke, there will be some sound I think and the headklight is a yellowish color, in the evening light it has managed to get some green in the color, don't know how. It is a bulb NOT an LED.

It came with or the reaer a link & pin receptacle which I have taken off - still pondering how to get a Kadee on it these locos at the rear are quite high, and this one is narrow between the two supports. Cut off the dropper for a startand maybe fillin the centre of the supports to make a base for a Kadee box. I will make some enquiries.

I think it is meant to be 4 foot radius but as I have not had it on the track - its just been oiled up and run on rollers so far I dont know .
