Management wanted to know if a retired car could be back in service so the works crew pulled into the workshops for an estimate on the work involved and work started in earnest,;);),the car was stripped down, internal fittings ripped out and the cupola removed, the roof walkways and handrails ripped out too,the biggest problem was the roof and how to fill the large hole from the cupola.
I had some roof section left from previous car bashes so checked if I could use any off cuts from there, one section was fine and I needed only one cut to make the roof and one splice,
From the same pile of bits from the old bash was an extra stove which has gone into the freight end,a length of window glaze which was cut half for each side and fitted, the interior seating repainted, some of the old interior fittings such as the Conductor`s desk was put back in and I kept the extra side windows I cut out for the original bash, now repainted, lettered and a combine ready for service, saying that a little more lettering(on order) to go on and the end railings need some attention as they were cut to allow the ladders to fit to the roofwalk and I may add a few bolt castings to the end beams, the pics tell the story;)IMG_20180204_162619 (1).jpgIMG_20210302_182557.jpgIMG_20210302_204311.jpgIMG_20210302_204316.jpgIMG_20210302_233459.jpgIMG_20210302_233406.jpgIMG_20210302_233440.jpgIMG_20210303_024200.jpgIMG_20210303_024908.jpgIMG_20210303_053106.jpgIMG_20210303_053127.jpg

The pics certainly do tell the story - a great restoration indeed!

I have managed to do some more, painting out the freight end and adding interior details such as fish rack as there is a locator hole in the floor for the seat unit, used it as the drain!;) some shelving and door guards, dry fit at the moment as I want some baggage and small freight to go in,,,,need a conductor and some passengers to finish the inside, some lying about in the spares box no doubt.:cool:I was expecting the smaller lettering from Cornwall Model Boats but didn`t arrive yesterday as I want to put on other lettering on such as "baggage" but the rivets and bolts turned up from Cambrian,so a good stock now!. Calling this one done,I made up some items for the freight end and now loaded on board, the lettering turned up yesterday so that sorted out too,one passenger in the passenger end and she will do for now as better than none at least she is a fare;);). A little touch up of paint needed here and there, the steps and end platform boards now finished, some bolt detail added to the end beams and the car is back in service again.:clap:IMG_20210304_212459.jpgIMG_20210304_224009.jpgIMG_20210304_232502.jpgIMG_20210304_232521.jpg
