Dismantling the cab on a Bachmann Lyn

Someone has asked how to detach the cab on a Bachmann Lyn. I have done it for a bash a few years ago but, for some unknown reason, I didn't take step by step photos for my blog. I don't remember it being particularly difficult but having now given the remains of the loco away, I can't remember how it's done. I think it was only four screws - but maybe the mists of time have obscured my recollection.

Has anyone done it? Can anyone shed any light?

Which version is it?
The later version, is different to the earlier one.

I converted my ‘Lyn’ with a Massoth sound decoder, from memory, the decoder had to go on the floor of the cab as there is no room in the boiler, the Massoth speaker is too big to fit where the Bachmann one comes out so I used the original. Mine is the last issue and uses an 8 pin plug to connect the decoder which I had to source from a 00 supplier, the problem with that was the wiring is ‘micro’ thin so I replaced it with thicker wire, a bit of a fiddle to get the ‘lid ‘ back on but all good in the end. The only thing I will say is the loco is very light, I have a couple of GRS L&B coach kits that I have fitted out internally and the loco can just about manage a slight incline with these, I would have liked to have had a third but without putting some weight in the loco, it would not cope on my inclines……….only problem is, there is very little space in the loco, to add weight. Hope this helps.

It looks like it must have been fairly straightforward - if not I think you'd have mentioned it.

From the look of it, the whole body (cab and boiler) comes off as a single unit before being split. Does that sound right?

The cab is held on with four plastic clips, which need pushing inwards; the cab then lifts off. The cab can be removed without taking the boiler off the motor block.
