The magnets in the motors are tripping the contacts you need to lower the contacts away from the track this will mean not using the supplied mount's.

Roland is the reed switch picking up off the motor magnetic field.
Are they standard reed switches(LGB) or the massoth ones

Even tried shielding one using a strip of vinyl flooring but it still stopped.

Just thinking aloud have you bridged the two diodes?

Personally I would disconnect the wires from the reed and alternatively, as a motor unit passes the reed, leave the wires open circuit and then next time momentarily short them together . Dependant on the results you will know if it's the reed or program that needs working on.
