After my dogs where done with the mailman the cats brought this inside:

Double check the soldering of the resistors on the rotary switch. It's easy to get a dry joint which then blows the TX chip when you power up.

I built one many years ago - a simpler version, and it worked well. I had trouble with getting the potentiometer to fix firmly so it wouldn't rotate. If it moves it will pull one of the wires, so I suggest paying attention to the machanical aspects and get them all tight.
 
Almost done soldering, that was a easy egg!
I am currently in debate with myself to convert the transmitter to li ion 2nd hand cells.
Meaning the voltage is nominal 7.2v and the receiver will be "fed" between 6.0v and 8.0v, instead of the 9v battery.
I think this can be done, it seems the receiver works on 3.1v...it could work on even a 1s li ion battery.
For charging i preferer 2s due to the rest and the charging station!
Simple plug in and charge see you when i need you base....

Anybody some idea's about my thought?

The 9V alky battery seems to last a long time. I haven't had to change a battery in mine (good job, as it is screwed together!) I now use the RCS versions, which are similar technology I believe, and the battery has lasted for over a year. I wouldn't think it is worth worrying about recharging.

A 2S battery will be fine.. - You might need to charge it in a couple of years! ;):D

What can 'kill' the Tx2, is if a NiMH '9V' rechargeable is used... A diode in series, just to drop that 0.6V is recommended then.

Do make sure that the battery is disconnected from the transmitter electronics when charging.

I intend to use "old" 18650 from my Powerwall that are below 70% soh.
To keep them "health" they will be at a contunios charge on a cc cv power supply. max 7.8v at max 1a charge

I had in mind to leave all as it is, but to redirect the positive to the switch will be a small trick, or redirect it all thru the bms, considering its low power consumption.
I will take this in consideration.
