Other than the splendid blue, what other colours were the Darjeeling coaches painted in?:eek:nphone:

Probably not too helpful, but I did record the BBC4 series of progs on the Indian Railways recently - If you don't get any joy, I could 'grab' some stills and post them for you.

Those coaches look blue and white to me. Were any Darjeeling coaches painted in green?

Now look yer Casey! you don't frighten me implying I'm colour blind.......
I only used a previously grabbed frame as an example of quality - can't say which episode I took that from, but there was an episode on the DR.....

Thanks Rob.
Problem is we saw the Roundhouse Darjeeling Locomotive in a lovely green. The CFR would like one, but we think it would look odd in front of blue or blue and white coaches.

I will happily look out the episode and report back soon (as to the colours) but I guess you might not be quite as much into weathering as I am.... and the stock in the progs was pretty 'weathered'

I actually like weathering. I generally let nature take its course but I do weather all of my modern stock. :Looser:

I'm sure the stock was red and off white for a while? The green loco livery was from a long time ago and I've no idea what livery the stock was in at that time.

The brandbright website shows some wooden coach models - scroll down to the panelled bogie coach in brown and white - although I can't offer confirmation of the livery.
http://www.brandbright.co.uk/darjcoach.htm

I understand that Terry Martin (mentioned above) passed away this year, sadly before volume 2 was released.

while not too educated on old Darjeeling- i did look up some info a while ago-

i believe the green engine livery would coincide with brown and creme coaches
i was interested because i saw another makers version of the Darjeeling model in the dark green -which i really liked-so i was trying to determine the same info

btw
that is the most beautiful roundhouse ive ever seen on the darjeeling model -elegant striping

again very rough- i looked this stuff up about 2-3 years ago when i thought id be buying a darjeeling -

-but i believe the green was circa 1930's and earlier

- i recall seeing some older b and w photos of this era, the engine and cars on a tight loop on a high berm and it appeaed to be the dark green
