Custom painted tank wagons

Hi, welcome to GSC!
I think you need to give a bit more info about what you actually want, so that the good folks here can try to help. Are you looking to have a whole rake of tank cars repainted/remarked by someone for you, or are you looking for custom-printed markings/decals to do your own repaints? Are you after US or Euro style tankers, bogie or 4-wheel?
Just taking a guess, if it's 4-wheel Euro style you;re after, you could do a lot worse than some of the cheap Newqida tank cars, which can be quite easily dismantled and repainted - you can just spray the main tank any colour you choose, and then get some custom graphics made up - there is a chap on here who offers custom decals, I can't offhand recall who but I'm sure someone will advise!
Anyway, if you'd like to offer a bit more detail on just what it is that you're after, I'm sure lots of help and advice will be forthcoming!

I've done the artwork for people to have custom transfers made up by Precision Labels in the past - but it's then down to the individual to place the order for the transfers and carry out the modification work - repainting and applying the transfers. I don't know of anyone who offers this as a service - and I expect if they did it would not be cheap as it's quite a labour intensive process - it could easily double the price of the model.

Thanks guys, you excellent advice has given me some ideas.
Zerogee - you are correct, 4 wheel Euro style, painted one solid colour (blue and/or red) with custom artwork/transfers/decals. At least one, probably several, and in an ideal world delivered complete, but not adverse to making them up myself.
Have now located a source for the tank wagons, and am contacting Chris Moxham regarding the custom markings.

What make of tank cars have you gone for - the Newqida ones or another alternative like the recently-released Bachmann "Thomas" range tankers?
Once you've sourced the decals, I would think that dismantling all the cars and spraying the tanks up all in a batch wouldn't be too long a job, a couple of Plasti-kote spray cans would probably do the whole lot for under a tenner - provided you're happy about applying the markings yourself, I really wouldn't see much point in paying someone else to do it - though if you still wanted to then I daresay that there would be a few folks on here who could offer their services (not me, sadly - I can't even find enough time to do my OWN stuff!).

I just painted a Bachmann Big Hauler tank car which has 'Gramps' lettering and other details upon it. The tank became redundant when I wanted use of its flat bed to build a long caboose.
I used a flat acrylic black paint - the kind made for military modelers and available in some model shops - and I am very pleased with the outcome. It was expected that with just one coat of paint the underlying details would show their outline, but this is not the case.
Tank cars, in my view, are always at their best when coloured black., however this tank is intended as a static display and the matt finish does give the impression that it has been there some while.
I would add that any model that I have re-painted has always been given coatings of this type of paint.
