Consisting Using Massoth Navigator

Looking for enlightenment. One of the things I find useful about the LGB MTS system is the ability to create consists with differing loco orientations. For example, both locos running forwards, or one loco running forwards and the second running backwards (remembering that in DCC forwards/backwards have specific meanings).

Having read the Massoth Navigator manual via download several times, I can see how you can make a consist, but can't see how to specify each locos orientation. How do you do it and where is it described in the Navigator's manual? :wits:

Thanks!

As I see it (and I stand to be corrected) you need to reverse one engine permanantly.

Not an option! All I need is what I have at the press of a button with an LGB 55015. Select both forward consist or 1 forward/ 1 reverse consist....
Surely the all-singing Massoth can handle this simple requirement for my push-pull set?

Peter,

Not sure if this is possible.....I shall pose the question to Peter at Massoth on the Massoth forum.

I can do this with a Bachmann Dynamis system so it must be possible with a Massoth Navigator. Surely...

i received one reply so far from massoth forum from Christophe Turgis,he says I see only one solution, change the CV 29 to reverse the direction of one of the two locs.

Lets see what the guys at Massoth have to say....if there is no way bar changing the CV, lets hope they add it to the wish list for the Navigator firmware and implement it PDQ ;)

Thanks for asking the question of Massoth chaps. Very disappointing that the Navigator can't do what I wanted, though probably good for my wallet..... :impatient:

Surely with the 2 diesels shown, the option is to just TURN the offending diesel round. Vola both go the same way (if they were not before). On my line which does not have a return loop or turntable, all locomotives face the way of a clockwise orientation of the line being forwards (on my LGB MTS SetUp).

It is not unknown for diesel locomotives to be turned on the real railway for a variety of reasons. So when consisting your push pull, you could turn the offending diesel to give you just another of those pesky operating problems that makes operation of a railway so pleasurable.

Yes, that is an option, but not an acceptable one to me. Being able to consist at will in any orientation is a fundamental requirement for me as I enjoy splitting and reforming the passenger set at will: something to do with the happy memories of Liverpool/Manchester-Glasgow/Edinburgh portion workings before the service was downgraded to DMUs!

The background story is that I was considering changing to Massoth kit (from LGB MTS) over time. It was one of those "nice to have" ideas rather than something I really needed, so I've been checking and rechecking features to see if the Navigator offered something mouth-wateringly extra. Now it seems I can't do something important with the Navigator that with I can with LGB MTS (Massoth-made!) the prospect of any change is zero.

i think you should drop massoth an email ,their very good at answering queries

eventually ;)

I finally have had a reply from Massoth regarding this issue.... It would seem that they forgot to add the functionality to the Navigator and they will rectify it in the next firmware release.

In an email to Massoth, I wrote:

In the Navigator, when creating a consist (multi heading), is there way of specifying that a particular locomotive is running backwards?

I believe this was possible with MTS?

If it is not possible could it be implemented in the future?

The response from Massoth:

Now, it is not possible to program a loco reverse The next update in Navigator will have this funtion This was possible in MTS, but we forgot this funktion in Navigator.

Thanks for doing this. I'm impressed with Massoth's response, both for the promise and their honesty in admitting forgetfulness! I have a lot of time for companies who comce clean on errors.
