Here are some pictures from last weekend's coal firing get-together on the Peacemarsh & Colesbrook Light Railway.
We had a lot of fun!

Nice pics - especially 3 & 5 (minus the full scale operators) - I can smell the steam:clap:

I gather there were 15 locos in total, from three different manufacturers - DJB, ELR, and Sabre Steam. The idea for last year's event was a get-together of Sabre Steam owners, but this year it seemed to be a DJB Ragleth-fest, with a couple of DJB Edrigs and my George Lawley as well.
It's certainly a good way to compare locos and get a bit of coaching in the finer aspects of coal firing.
See you next year Nick!

Lovely day and the hours flew by, first time driving such a small coal fired loco and I went with little and often with coal and water and ran for over an hour completing about six circuits :)

This was indeed a lot of fun. We ran a few locos and fettled a couple more. Here is a vid of my DJB/Accucraft Ragleth receiving banking assistance from Steve's DJB Lawley. We kept both locos in steam and ran this train for around an hour and a half with Steve waiting in the loop as designated banker. This was a heavy train and the loco was slipping on the wet rail.

I'm very impressed about the amount of coal fired engines in one place! It is good to see it was a nice day. It is just a shame I live so far away as I would like liked to have joined you..... Perhaps I should arrange a North of England gathering. Any takers!?!

Regards

Daniel

Definitely up for it! Whereabouts are you?

It was a brilliant weekend's steaming, and great company. I again learnt alot just by listening and watching others as they ran.

It's certainly better than trying to plough your own furrow. Coal firing's not hard but it takes a bit of practice. It's even better if there's someone on hand to do a bit of coaching. It was great to see such a variety of locos in steam.

Just checking the 'new' web site. My old profile doesn't seem to have been carried across successfully.

Mine didn't either Steve. I had to create a new one. I've posted a thread earlier to test its working ok.

No, it didn't work like that for me. When I asked for a new password I got the message that my user name wasn't recognized. Paul didn't know what the problem was so he suggested I start again. The only loss was my avatar so I have a new one now.
