Check rails on LGB track

From photographs of several layouts on this website, I have noted that numerous people have fitted check rails to their LGB track work.

I am in the process of building an over-bridge and would like to incorporate inside check rails on otherwise plain straight track. What is the best way to do it? How are the inside (plain) rails secured to the track panels?

The easiest way is to cheat with a few lengths of Aristocraft track. They are fixed to the sleepers by little screws, and thus are pre-drilled on the underside. If you fix these direct to the sleepers, with them pushed up against the plastic chair mouldings, the head of the rail will be very slightly lower than the running rail, thus allowing unimpeded cleaning of the running rails.

On mine I used some spare LGB track lengths, bent in the outside ends, and glued them to the track, up against the outer chairs.

That sounds a good solid way to fix the rails. I do have a few spare lengths of Aristocraft track which I will give a go.... Thanks. Dave

That looks good and is the kind of job I have in mind..... What type of glue do you use for the check rails and how durable is it?

Dave
To be quite honest Dave, I can’t really remember. However it was probably something like E3000 or a flexible silicone. Something that I could remove if needed but would stand up to the humid weather of Northwest Florida. It certainly worked and is still on some bits of track I have in storage.
