Hi guys, Probably one for Mark, but I'm looking at replacing my LGB MTS 3 system with a massoth system, but can't make up my mind between the 1200Z and the 1210Z. I know that the 1200Z is now discontinued, but I like the fact is is all in one unit the power supply and the CS where as the other one you would need to invest in the CS and then on top of that the power supply. In terms of the functions on each unit they appear to be pretty much the same. Does anyone have any experience of them and are they really worth the extra money.

Cheers,
Alan.

Hi Alan,

Functionally they are the same. The 1210 was initially created for the US market but EU legislation (re the use of wound transformers and their inefficiency) has now forced it to be used here too with the more efficient 1210T Switched mode PSU.

The price of the 1210Z (CS) & the 1210T (PSU) from GRO are priced to be the same as the original 1200Z.

If you really want a 1200Z then I may consider selling you my own.

Mark

Thanks for the replies guys, Cheers for the info Mark. I did see that garden railway centres had a second hand 1200z for £595 which got me thinking about getting the 1200z as that seemed like a good price. I'll have to have a think though as it is a big investment.

Cheers,
Alan
