Calling Stephen FunandTrains

Have you tried P.M.ing him?

Hi Mike
Looks like it is probably a hack but strange that there is no product on offer. They are probably phishing to get folk to contact them to glean information.
There again, as you say.... a new way of drawing us in to buy????????

I saw it yesterday and thought it might be an ebay promo and he's just secured the listings at the promo price to fill in the details later?

Good thinking Inspector Clouseau!

This could be the real reason...but what has Steve got that all will start at £499?????? Velly interesting

I think these might be "placeholders" to get in on last weekend's free listings offer - I assume that the actual items will be listed shortly, and the prices adjusted accordingly (I think you can REDUCE a starting price while an auction is running, but not increase it - hence they are set as high as possible, at no cost to the seller because of the free listing offer - and then can be dropped to the correct amounts as each item is actually posted).

At least, that's my guess. Slightly odd, but within the rules.

Jon.

Another clue from Jon

If it works then it is something I will use when I am too late to list and get the zero fees option. Mind you the zero fees for listing, (Not Zerogees!), are not really worth it unless you are starting at a very high value anyway.

Lateral thinking - I used to be all lateral till I went on a diet:rolf::rolf::rolf::rolf:

i dare say the man will come on and explain but if you look at his other items they all started 1 minute before each other and were revised later on with pictures ,change of price etc so as some have said he must have listed them all at the same time useing proberly turbo lister..... thing is if you dont use ebay for picture hosting they only cost 10p an ad anyway so ..........?

Tony

I've been try sorting stuff out to add the rest of the details onto ebay this evening and have in fact just taken the photos.

I was put on short time last week with the prospect of loosing my job next month so have been trying to find stuff that will pay the the Christmas bills.

It was a free listing weekend last weekend but since they didn't anounce it to Saturday with family commitments there was not the time to get most done by Sunday evening I put of some blank listings some of which I filled in yesterday and the rest of which I'm rushing to do now.

Since I don't want to loose too much money on these forced sales I can only afford to list them on the free listing days and luckily ebay still allow listing to be revised later if there are no bids. The reasons for the high starting price are that no one will bid until the description is added and that I can revise the price down but not up or they charge me.

I hope this explains things to all.

If any memember wants to make me a reasonable offer through GSC on lots with no bids I'm happy to sell direct. I've not put them on GSC sales as it has been made too difficult to list more than a few items plus during the couple of time I tried to sell stuff to member this year I have had some less that great experiences.

Plus, I forgot to add ebay was running very slow suning evening as was taking forever when I tried to upload photos, I guess quite a few people were trying to raise money for Christmas!

Thanks for the explanation Steve. We were worried that you might have been hacked but Jon had the right idea.

If people are interested I've now add all of the descriptions although I will try to add more photos to the Regner.
