Hi All,

Just wondering if anybody has been to the Railway Museum in Brussels and if so is it worth a visit as im looking at going over in October.

Not been myself but a friend has.

Very dark inside and difficult to take photos, but it is worth visiting....

Definitely worth it. Atmospheric and impressive, rather then dry and techy. I'll try and find my pictures.

While you're in Brussels make sure to eat well and try some beer!1901_01_002.jpg1901_03_002.jpg1901_07_002.jpg1901_04_002.jpg

Best beer and food in Europe. That steamlined Atlantic is a beast, if only they were still in service.

Brussels is a great place. When you've done the transport museum, visit the exhibition area. Built on similar lines twhat was the old Wembley site

The Atlantic has been steamed in preservation, a long time ago, and sadly seems unlikely to steam again. It's an extraordinary thing to see in motion as it has inside cylinders with outside valve gear, bar frames and enormous (2.1m) driving wheels.
Here it is at Ypres in August 1985 :-

This was I think as part of the celebrations for 150 years of Belgian railways.
