On a cracker of an Autumn Sunday the Wellington Garden Railway Group had it's monthly running day at David A's Browns Bay Railway.

What are the plant (remains?) to the left, in the last pic?
Are they a 'tree-fern', and are they dead, dormant, or what?

Hi Phil. They are punga logs, yes from tree ferns. The trunks sold as landscaping product here. Not uncommon for them to sprout if the conditions are right and they have some spores in them.

David made this very clever gauntlet track which connects the original railway to the first expansion.
Never seen this modelled before?

Only one I've seen for real is at Crich Tramway Museum in Derbyshire....
