Bridges on the EG&SNNR

The last week or so I've been busy facing the mountain (so it looks like a mountain when I look at it from the house) and to create some flower beds around the mountain - first pic is looking towards the Blue Bridge:

Lastly the steps tp heaven......decided that I need someway to get onto the mountain for maintenance so started making some steps at the back of the mountain......

Have decided to plant some very slow growing dwarf Japanese azeleas around the mountain - these provide vibrant colour in the spring (which reminds me of my time spent in Japan). Dwarf daffodils are planted around the azeleas which will be replaced by bedding plants in the spring.
There's still a lot of facing work to be done on the mountain so managed some prep work today:
Once work had been finished today had to get out a train - especially as some new HSB coaches arrived a couple of days ago. Picture of my first HSB loco (purchased on that first fateful visit to Tim at Arcadia
) together with the latest coaches:
I think the graphics on the Faust coach are the best I've seen. At first when TrainLine announced this coach I thought it was a fantasy livery but when the GSC-4 posted pics of the real coach when they visited the HSB I realised it was a real livery. Looks just great:
Now that TrainLine have done the advertising liveries maybe my LGB versions will need to find new homes.....

What a great railway Keith. Lots of interesting ups, downs and acrosses. Will you eventually be putting in buildings and other scenic items or keeping it as a running line?

Yep, a long consist of Rio Grande stock would look great first climbing the spirals and later the mountain....something like this but in D&RGW yellow and black livery....

There were buildings originally and a couple still survive - the station building at the end of the original end-to-end line is reasonably well preserved as it's in a sheltered position protected from the prevailing south westerly winds:
At the far end of the garden a couple of small houses have been succombed to nature. Hopefully these will be rescued next year:
Other buildings were out on the track but got deconstructed in a bad storm a couple of years ago. These are currently in the garden shed awaiting rebuilding:
In safe storage is a mountain chapel and some Swiss horn players who, in due course will take their position at the top of the spirals. Even have a cd of Swiss horn music to utilise in the future:
Once all the mountain building and ballasting has been done hope to get some more buildings out on the railway. Have a number of kits to be built and then Mr. Pendlebury does not live that far away - just waiting for him to do some Harz-style buildings. How about it Alan.......

Put me down for the next trip to the Harz - got to track bash the extension from Gernrode to Quedlinburg which was not open at time of my last visit.
Think I qualify for the madness of such a trip - last time I rode the early morning railcar from Wernigerode to Nordhausen just to ride the short extension from just outside Nordhausen HSB station onto the tram tracks just outside Nordhausen station
