Bressingham East Anglia Garden Railway Show - Sat 12th Aug 2017

Isn't it time for a forum pin/hat/badge of some kind to reflect our interest in this type of railway modelling?
A forum pin exists and has done for ages, I'm looking at mine now as it has pride of place under the monitor.
Ask the mods, one of them dealt with selling them and there may be some left.

Glad you had a good day. I was tempted but it's a 2 - 3 hour journey for me and my wonderful lady decided to treat me to see Dunkirk at the local movie-plex thingy.

Did you clear all the items you listed for sale or are there any left overs?
Lots and lots of leftovers. Despite taking well into four figures it was still a struggle to get the remainder back into the car. SWMBO was almost certain I must have bought some stuff when she went to the toilet. I didn't - honest, boy scouts and all that. Will try and find time to list some properly in the sales threads during the week but will keep to the cheaper to post stuff first.
What was the film like? We don't go - I've seen the prices. Speaking of cinemas, I've got a redundant analogue pocket tv and mini camcorder with SD memory. I had a play with it a few weeks ago and a working cinema coach is certainly viable.

Reading here about all of you who obviously know each other, whether it be by secret handshake or some other arcane method, it struck me that apart from a couple of traders - John Sutton and Rod Bushill - and my pal with the small-scale traction engine who follows me around every place I go - I never recognised a soul, nor got recognised either, in spite of brazenly carrying a large CANADA backpack - as notified here yesterday.

That way just like 16mm-ers and Gauge 1-ers, we can at least get to say hello.

Sorry if I didn't recognise you tac. I hadn't picked up on the Canada thing due to being busy sorting stuff out between shifts for the last couple of weeks. Most people I saw yesterday were from the front so I guess I would have missed the backpack anyway. Those members I met with are usually identified as such in conversation or by introducing themselves. By virtue of the presence of Mrs ebay mike discussion content was a little guarded (wives have ears being the modern version of the WW2 posters). A couple I've met before, but as I'm getting on my memory is not what it used to be so if anyone else went unacknowledged I offer my apologies.
Mike.

Sorry you didn't get to meet anyone else, Tac...... Though I didn't make it to Bressingham yesterday due to prior commitments, what we've done at past shows is to agree a meeting time and place for any GSC'ers who want to meet up - when Alan (Stockers) used to have his trade stand for the Pendlebury buildings we often used his stand as a rendezvous point around 1pm, but we can always decide to meet at the GSS publicity stand and annoy Mike D instead!
For Llanfair, maybe we should do this again, then you will be sure of meeting up with at least some of us?

Jon.

Good idea about the pin badge, I must admit I went to Bressingham yesterday and didn't get to speak to anyone! Being hard of hearing I find it very hard to just speak to people, especially there ad, although it's a nice place to visit, it is very dingy.
What I really wanted to find there was a replacement motor for my Bachmann Lyn. Anyone any ideas? I don't fancy going through the Bachmann America route as I've never had much help from them in the past, & Bachmann UK haven't any. :(

Hi Paul.Is the motor the same as in the 2-4-2 Big Hauler Baldwins? I think I had one somewhere that had a stripped gear on the driving axle. If I can locate it I can have a look at the condition of the motor. It was working well until the above mentioned problem and got put away probably about 12 years ago. If that's no help I might have one out of one of the tramcars which I modified to a trailer. Let me know, but due to work pressures it could take a while to locate the items. The house is full of boxes of stuff left over from yesterday at the moment and the management has delivered a 'tidy up or else' ultimatum.

Hey, no apologies needed! From anybody! I'll be thinking about a local company hereabouts that does really first-class baseball hats, and associated clobber, and my pal Chris, who makes mugs and all kinds of stuff with names on, as well as vinyl signs for any purpose. If the site owners here are interest in making contact, I'm more than happy to make the meet-up happen.

Not sure if is is anygood, but have you looed at my Bachman 4-6-0 Sales bits, the motor in the Chassis could be just what you are looking for. Though perhaps a knowledgable oerson in the Forum could confirm.

Mike,
That sounds great, it is a Bachmann Big Hauler Baldwin 2-4-2. All the gears on mine seem fine, but the motor burnt out for some reason. Don't worry there's no rush, my lines in boxes at the moment until the garden is rebuilt after a house extension. Good to know that you had a good day yesterday, I wasn't able to do any purchasing, because of the fore mentioned house extension, SWMBO thinks roofs are more important than trains!

Jon, no I haven't, but I can't find where you look at things for sale!

Been away from G Scale for a few years for various reasons but visited the show and had a wander around, saw Giz but didn't recognise anyone else.
Visited what I know know to be Ebaymike and made a few purchases, the GRS conversions and appropriate LGB donor wagon, and a couple of kits from IP Eng. All I have to do now is hack the garden back and find the railway!!

Nice to do business Chris. I've got one already done somewhere in the garage. Will have to dig it out and compare with yours when done.

This link should find it for you, to find all the varying threads you need to click on Forums at the Top Left of the Menu Bar and scroll through the many options. One of which is Members Sales.

Just found your link Jon, unfortunately I don't think it's the same :(
On a different note, are you in the picture of Stuff Neots model railway club that's in the Railway Modeller this month?

No not me, not in any Model Railway Club other than Societies for the scales G1 and 16mm. Not sure that ai would want to be a member of any Model Railway Club that would have me as a Member! Though I may join the Riverside Miniature Railway when I cease to be a Councilor next year.

Sorry that the Motor not right.

Mike gave me a few a couple of years back to distribute. Not sure if I have any left but maybe Mike does.
