BR 80 conversion

1. sell the donor...
2. use funds to buy bits for new project!

I think you may find the wheels to be a little on the small side, you may have found the class 38 a bettor donor in this regard. But much more expensive of course! Look forward to seeing what you come up with.

Would a Bachmann Thomas be a better starting point.....? Similar six-coupled chassis with inside cylinders as what you're aiming to build, plus larger wheels (I think) than the BR80...?

Jon.

You've certainly picked an interesting conversion! As Zerogee suggests a different donor may be a better be. Mind you, having said that, all your other projects have come out brilliantly, so you'll do a fantastic job of this one.

The P class divers are listed as 3' - 91/8" by Wiki - so at 1:22.5 should be 50mm I think :wondering::wondering::wondering:

From what I can see all they have in common is the number of wheels, buffers and bored-looking drivers. Some serious scratching needed there Soeren :eek:

As Casey said, this should be interesting. We will be looking forward to your progress.

Mind you, at 1:29, you'd need 39mm drivers :nod::nod:

Hello chaps,

yes this will take some time,
I´m going for 1 : 28, in this case the wheels are a bit to small(5 mm) but the rest is
managable.
The donor is not best(also because it´s gauge 1) but at the moment it´s the only one I got
so I´ll do my very best ;);););)
Best regards
Soeren

Buy a Piko chassis block or chassis block and start from there !! It would be a lot easier than converting . Sometimes a pure scratchbuild is easier than a conversion talking from expierience

Mmm - I saw that little loco last week - very attractive, and they had the 00 versions in the shop for £99 :inlove:
