Being unable to visit my friends to run trains, I have attacked the pile of kits sitting on my shelves. One was a 10' caboose in Ozark Miniatures "Clear Creek" series. This retails for $130 over here which is expensive, when all you get is a bunch of laser-cut plywood and some bags of Ozark metal parts. The wheels are Bachmann.
I did a very comprehensive set of photos for the build, figuring that many folk no longer try to make "craftsman" style kits, though I see no reason why anyone can't tackle one. The full set of photos is on Largescalecentral.com but I posted a selection here for your entertainment in these trying times.
Here's the finished caboose on my ore train.
It was bought to run behind my LGB Fldbahn conversion, but I found another small van and painted that instead.
The kit came with 2 pieces of plywood for the roof, so I made a flat roof as well which is a lot more realistic, I think.
If you want chapter-and-verse of the build, check out the original thread.
