Black/yellow warning stripes....?

Does anyone here know where (or if?) I could get some sheets or strips of black-and-yellow diagonal warning stripes, preferably printed on something like self-adhesive vinyl, of a suitable size/spacing to look OK on things like G scale shunter bufferbeams and body ends?

I know there are various ways I could either print these myself or have someone do them up, but just wondered if there was an easier route in buying some ready-made ones?

I've not seen black/yellow ready to apply. I just used yellow trimline tape on a black background.

Thanks Philip, that's the effect I'm looking for and using yellow tape is certainly one option (nice work on your loco, by the way!) - but still wondering if anyone actually does ready-to-use sheets or strips?

I also use Trimline for all sorts of stuff ...from lining edges to making warning panels like 'railwayman198' has shown. It is good stuff as long as the surface that it is to adhere to is dry and grease free. It seems to stay on too
The other source is decal and with homemade ones you can at least make them to the correct shape!

funnily enough the Trimline tape is useful here too as it comes on one roll in multiple widths. Spray background yellow or orange and let dry well, apply lengths of tape over where yellow/orange will stay (don't press down too hard) and then spray black. of course mask off anything else........... peel off the trimline tape and there are the stripes

cut modelling masking tape into strips and do the same

I got mine from Mankins Model Trains, Shrub End Road up near the recycling plant in Colchester. Also A1 models on London Road Colchester...just before the traffic lights for the left turn to Straight Road

Halfords usually have some in as well

Thanks Mike - I'll have to pop into A1 and see, I need some more Evergreen strip from them anyhow! Calling in to them has been a lot easier since I discovered that handy little free car park 100 yards or so before their shop.
Every time I've been into Mankim, they've seemed to have b*gger-all stock and even less interest.....

Yes they area bit of an acquired taste...and a bit hit and miss for modelling materials..plenty of Hornby though....

I sprayed mine yellow (Halfords Vauxhall Mustard Yellow) then used 5mm modellers masking tape and then sprayed over with Halfords satin black paint. Took a little time with the masking but not as hard as I thought it would be.

Yep, that pretty well mirrors my experience with them too - they don't stock anything very useful unless you do British OO, and they seem to have no interest in anyone who might possibly want anything different.....
It amazes me that they've stayed in business as long as they have.

Nice job - will probably have a go that way myself, though there is possibly a hole in the market for some ready-made self adhesive stuff if no-one here knows of any!

A quick guide to my way;
Using a set square mark a vertical centre line (lightly). Then mark 1 45 degree line from the top of the vertical line down on either side. I place 1 line of masking tape below this line, then butt another against it, and another against that one so there are now 3 lines of masking tape side by side. Now remove the middle strip, this gives you the 5mm gap that is perfectly straight and in line. The removed piece of tape can then be used to space the next strip and so on. You must use a very sharp scalpel too, it makes cutting the tape so much easier and neater. For the 90 degree vee I cut the masking tape on a clean degreased piece of glass first (the 45 degree cut) before placing tape on the model. When both strips are in place on either side I place a small piece of tape over the joint so no paint leaks through.

If you can follow that then you deserve a medal.

There's a guy over on Mylargescale.com called Del Taparo who will make you anything you want as far as vinyl decals(?) are concerned. Or Stan Cedaleaf who does custom paper decals.
Just a thought.
