Well, I'm still awaiting the finished tender for Project 1, the 0-6-0 tender loco. The body has turned out satisfactorily and is a good runner (as you would think from an LGB chassis) and when paired with the Bachmann Large Mogul tender should look quite well (photo of the finished package follows when it's complete).
As a reminder, the body and cab were from a Porter side tank, running boards were added, plus a cut-down pilot from a K27, along with the front pilot from an old Annie. The whole thing disassembles, and is also weighted with fishing weights (can't call them leads anymore, it's SO un-PC
) Here's the chassis, the body and tender together, and also a slightly too-rusty almost-finished body which will be toned down a little.
Now the latest project, and boy will this take time
As you know I love Rock Island Motor Brakes, and so intend to make my Rule 8 version - it can't be exactly to prototype anyway, as there weren't any narrow gauge ones - only in my (poor addled) mind !
So here's the prototype on which it's to be based :
And here's the start - take one cheap Aristo NW2, and remoooooove the body :
