Ballast recomendations?

I use horticultural grit but I find it needs retaining so, when it rains, it doesn't wash away! THis, and finer grit becomes very fluid in the rain!

Granite fines from a quarry locally now. At the last house I used have a guy who would bring me "Tennis Court grit", now that stuff was the Bees Knees He worked for an ashphalt company ?????

I have just been using "PottingGrit" as above, on my new track and am very pleased with it. It is rather light grey but so is new ballast on the mainline ... Picture here;

Yeah!!! Spot on!!! That's the look I was expecting. Keeping it in place (trammayo) will be a job for ext P.V.A. and wet stuff mix poured round the edges.
