Now retired - trains and fishing

Today I used my Bachmann Lyn to test my track. Lithium Ion powered (4S), with RC Trains MR603 Rx/ESC. I ran the loco around my track a few times with no issues, then it was coffee time, parked the loco in the tunnel, with the Rx on, and I could hear the MLS, sound quietly. When I came out 30 minutes later the loco was still making a sound, but had lost connect ion with the Tx (this is not the issue), switch off the loco and back on, connection made, ran it part way around the track and it stopped, no sound and no lights. LVC (low battery) was my though so went to connect the (smart) charger, and I get a "connection break" error.
So no power to the charging point (standard RC Trains configuration) and no power to the Tx, so a break between the switch and battery. However on returning to the loco 30 minutes later (having placed it in the workroom) the power was back on, and all was working.
My thoughts are the poly fuse (2 amp I think) had activated, possibly due to heat, took a while to reset and then all is fine, is this feasible, as the only thinks between the battery and switch is the BMS and polyfuse.
