Hi all

Some advice required please. I am trying to remove the drive rods on my Connie in order to install a Barry's Big train drive but have been unable to undo the hex screws on the main driving axle (No. 3). They seem stuck fast on both sides.

The hex screws on the other 3 axles undo easily.

Has anyone any suggestions as I don't want to apply too much strength and break off the head. Did Bachmann ever use thread locker??

Look forward to some advice - I hope.

Bachmann didn't use any loctite, and due to some of these bolts coming undone, many G scalers recommended loctite on both the motions bolts and the gearbox bolts.

It's metal to metal, so you can apply reasonable force - holding the wheel while you apply the force is the more difficult part.

If it is metal to metal, then you can apply a soldering iron to the head of the bolt/screw...
You can soften many thread locking compounds this way. - Watch any paintwork, nearby plastics, and your fingers though!
