Thank you for this. I have had a look on the Halfords site, but can't see any matt undercoat as such. I did find this - Halfords Matt BLACK Spray 300ml | Halfords UK Would that be acceptable?

Thanks in advance.
Sorry not sure why but I missed this, Halfords Matt brown is actually Primer Red and is Brown with a Brown lid. As for the Maskol application, I would have been trying to maintain the colour of the window rims and sealing the masking tape to stop bleed through to the outer body colour. Probably a bit late now, but at least usable gen for another time.

I first added masking tape to the outside of the body and ensured it was pressed into the different layers. Maskol was then painted over the inside of each window frame. I then sprayed the inside with undercoat. It took 3 coats. Finally, I added the brown which was actually a good match for the original Bachmann interior! This took 2 coats. Whilst the coach was apart I also added some glazing to the interior ends. I then carefully peeled off the maskol and masking tape. Done!

As an aside, I have had good results dimming down overly bright leds simply by painting the 'bulbs' with a couple of coats of glass paint. (Available from most craft suppliers.) I found one coat of yellow and one of red gave a nice gas / oil lamp type light and being dimmer did not penetrate through the body of the coaches as much.

Do these coaches have a nine vote battery compartment and switch on the under side; if so, what batteries are you using? I was looking at rechargeable batteries for mine. The big box stores in my area of Tennessee don’t seem to carry them. The local radio shack had one battery and no charger. Reading product reviews, there where many complaints that the rechargeable 9v product didn’t fit the standard compartment of a typical guitar effect peddle. So I’m looking for a rechargeable 9v battery system that is proven to fit the Bachmann battery compartment.

Yes, I'm using the standard battery compartment, but hard wired the lighting to give a good contact. I've using standard 9v duracell batteries and as everything is led they last for ages!
