Thanks Alyn
Yesterday I was able to satin varnish the locomotive and begin work on adding the battery, motor and gears. Unfortunately due to an error on my part the battery box didn't fit underneath the locomotive. I had intended it to be low slung like the prototype but there just wasn't the room. In the end I was able to slide it into the boiler leaving enough wire for it to be pulled out. Because the switch on the battery case could not be accessed I opted to add a second in easy reach of the operator. The smoke box door thankfully fits neatly in the end so gaining access to any of the parts for maintenance will be easy. I've included a few shots of the mechanism and access points.
The locomotive looks a little toy like so I've added number plates and will weather slightly which I'm hoping will calm everything down. I also gave it a test run on some plastic track and after some slight modifications everything ran well. Perhaps at the weekend it may find itself on a certain local Austrian Line for a run in
I'll try and work out how to use my camera and take a short film of everything wizzing around.
Best
Tim
