A nice cool sunny winters day today, perfect for a couple of hours of work on the railway this afternoon.

I moved the track over towards the edge last week and the rock edge needed cementing in before we got a heavy rain.
Doggo had no time to supervise me today. He was busy annoying the bees in the lavender plants in the garden to the right, kept him busy all day long.
So I ran a sand and cement train to keep me company.




Job done, I made the rock wall low here so i can plant some ground covers to hang down over the wall.
I also got a few other areas done like the big rock above the grey sieve.
The mess Infront of the loco is next on the hit list. It will be nice to get the rocks in place and the cement works siding back in action.
That's it for today, a small step forward but good to be moving forward again.

It was another sunny day today, perfect weather to run a train and putter around.



Following on from yesterday's work, I planted out beside the new rock work, some mini trees, ground covers and a weeping pine.
Hope fully in a few years they should soften the rock work here. As well hide the R2 bend.



Here is my newest carriage, a second class ex bernina line carriage. This will be the standard livery I run with here, due to personal taste and budgetary constraints
The complete train is sitting in what will be the passing loop for St Peter/Mollinis station.
They trackwork will need to be skewed a little bit closer to the edge. As the loop needs to be a tad longer to fit the occasional freight traffic or baggage car on to the end of the train.
Added bonus of doing this is I will be able to fit a row of mini pine trees in front of the rock work here. Which I really wanted.
I am thinking once I have redone everything 3 -4 times, I should have the railway I wanted in the first place

Well, youll probably find that itll take more than 3 or 4 times TBH, thats the thing about railway modelling, theres always something you can add!

A busy day working on the railway today.

Had Doggo's assistance all day today. It was cool and overcast today, so no bees to annoy today.
Starting to get the point and track in for the concrete plant siding.


Track done, checking to make sure intended traffic will fit.
The orange flat car is my tool, track test and clearance check train as its the longest vehicle I have. As its in DR livery and needs converting the odd bump is not going to hurt it too much.


Rockwall cemented in and a few plants in and pea gravel in.
The rocks on the right still need finishing off.


The empty blocks are for the concrete plant to sit on.
The small caves either side of the tracks is for dummy road vehicle tunnels, with a crossing to join them. Details to be added in the future.


View from the Arosa side, run out of mixed cement, time and energy to finish the big rocks on the left off.
Hopefully in not too many years the pines will fill out and block the view through here. As well as being a nice backdrop to the station.


Added gravel around the track here as well. Once I am sure the trackwork is reliable i will have a go at ballasting it, which should make a big difference to how it looks.
The track still needs fixing down on the right side, a job for tomorrow.
Still have to work out the entrance to Arosa station to the right.

A bit more progress has been made over the weekend.

Starting to dig out the road base beside the track and about to lift out the station building base. I have broken out a bit of the rock edging, to move the cable junction spaces out of the way.

Here you can see where I am moving the track over to the left, which will allow me to make the passing loop a bit longer.
As the trackbase blocks are layed like pavers they can be lifted and moved over easily. There will be a bit of trimming on the brick saw to make them fit nicely.
Instead of putting the road base back in, I am putting pea gravel in, It is easier to weed and to bury any cables in.


The rockwork cemented in around the new lift out spaces in the wall. The further one was moved towards the corner and the closer one moved towards the bottom of the photo.



With the left over cement I continued on filling in unfinished bits. Still a few bits to fill in here and there.
The rock under the solar panel, lifts out to access the bog filter controls.

Got a little bit of time in on the railway, amongst the rain.

Blocks in place. This was quick to do as I had a base level set from before. A bit of careful cleaning away of the road base fill and some trimming of blocks on the bricksaw.
New track base finished. Which now also gives a bit of room for a row of mini pine trees between the rock mountains and the track. Which hopefully will be a much nicer backdrop to the trains and was what I was hoping for.

We even got an hour of nice sun shine. Track is in place now. Room between the tracks for those very skinny low platforms the RhB have on this line.
Checking the passing loop length, just right.
The normal 4 car passenger train can either take, 2 small wagons or 1 luggage and 1 small wagon or 1 long bogie wagon of freight.
That should make marshalling the days freight a bit of fun for later on.
Also just enough room for 2 log wagons on the siding. Unfortunately it had to curve back towards the station building a lot more than I would of liked. Might tweak it a bit towards the edge, after I get a buffer that is .



Found the difference between Peco code 200 point on the left and Peco code 200 flex track on the right.
The small bolt detail is only on top of point chairs. Which the LGB flanges were hitting.
A few minutes work with the dremel and a abrasive disk. Bolt detail removed from the inside of the rails without weakening the chairs.

A short run through the passing loop, before the rain returned.
Next job is to pin the track in place.

Strange one type is Pandrol representation the other is a Chair one. Learn something new every day. But from my track days on the railway there was a time when Pandrol type not used on points, think that may have changed now.
