Aristo Tender Drawbar

Oh Dear! Must have taken my eye off the ball.

I now have managed to acquire not one but TWO Aristo tenders (Long and Vandy) without a Drawbar.

Its a long shot but has anyone got one or seen one anywhere please?

?Strip of Meccano?
That's what I used with my Aristo Mikado, I forget exactly why but probably to bring the tender a little closer as I run R3 minimum.

Thanks Phil

A good idea but I haven't seen one for 60 years and am wondering if its rigid enough?

Any problems with yours Nick? Do you have an original Aristo one to spare?

Thanks

As it is used flat, more than rigid enough.. You won't be picking the loco/tender up and swinging it about by it, after all! ;)
A nut and bolt would make the 'pin'. - Though possibly need one longer than a 'standard' Meccano item.

Failing that, a bit of brass flat

Mr B&Q has a very limited range if you don't have a decent model shop near you.

No problems all, it works just fine. TBH, I`ve no idea where I put the original drawbar! When I made the Meccano version, I used the pin from the original by the look of it.

Nah... I took the pin off the Aristo bar when I made up the Meccano replacement. After that I had no use for the original bar and have obviously filed it somewhere very very safe!

I have a feeling I probably made this change simply so that the tender would still fit in the box without having to remove the drawbar. Seem to remember it was too long before, and I can`t be bothered with continually unscrewing something every time it goes back in the box!

See... it fits very snuggly!

Think I had the same problem with a ?Pacific? (though it was not a Pacific, big Yankee thing).. Bar stuck through the packing / box! ::) :(

Brilliant picture Thanks Nick.

Its just the curved sides for grip that I was worrying about. Couple of cuts with a hacksaw, put in a vice and lean on it? Am I on the right track?

Yep, with the helpful assistance Mr Hammer.

The only problem I have with all you 'Youngsters'..
Meccano should be RED or GREEN!! ;) :D ;D ;D

I don't have any Meccano. Just been to local auction room and none there either.

So rephrasing the original Wanted request:

Does any kind soul have two off pieces of Meccano about 70mm x 12mm x 1.mm they could spare please?

Here's hoping.

H'mm - I once had some blue stuff - it had a mesh of fine gold lines on it and it was quite old then I think ???

Thanks very much Phil but I've just found some in The Other Place so please don't worry about me any more!

Hoping this will be an easy fix thanks to you all.
