Aristo Mikado

If it is any help at all Bill, but you may know this already, Aristo suggested a minimum of 8ft. radius for this loco. Of course that presumably was with their knuckle coupler or the alternative bottle opener type also included.
I can't see their being anything less with any Kadee coupler however, But as they say, someone may know differently. ;)

Thanks Alan
My minimum radius is LGB R3 which is just short of 4ft and hence I think this is a non starter.
Bill

Bill, I have no personal experience of LGB track - all mine is Aristo - but I do think their R3 is close to the 8ft. DIAMETER which I should have quoted and not radius. So you could be in luck.

My Aristo Mike ran fine on my line with minimum R3 curves. Can't comment about use with Kadees, I retained the stock Aristo buckeye on mine.

Wait for others opinions Bill - they may be more useful than mine. lol. I am sorry about the confusion of sizes. There are many ways of describing track, some even seem to quote degrees of curves, but to confirm it is 8ft.DIAMETER that is quoted by Aristo.

I do not have a Mikado Bill, but I think the post by Nick (ntpntpntp) should give you encouragement. He seemed quite happy with his Mikado on R3 curves, so I believe you have a fair answer to you enquiry.

R3 is taken as 8ft diameter near as dammit, and most of the other products that say minimum 8ft will go around an LGB R3.

The length of the tender is not the critical thing, it is the outswing - in other words how close the bogie pivot is mounted to the rear of the tender. For practical purposes, it's not going to be much different to a bogie wagon.

Go for it, sir :nod::nod::nod::nod:
