Can anyone tell me what the output of the Aristo Basic Train Engineer is? Will it cope with the current needs of he Aristocraft Mallet, for instance?

Hi Alec
The mallett will stretch it beyond its limit. The basic TE output is about 1.5 amps max and the mallet will need more than that just on its own but definitely when pulling a rake of cars or if climbing even a gentle incline (smoke is very much out of the question).
It may work for a bit but you will soon run into overload.

Thanks for that. The mallet I know takes 2.5 amps plus as a light engine. Oh we'll, that's something else I won't bid for on eBay!

I was told never use a power source greater than 2amps, so I have always limited the BTE to a basic 1amp LGB powerpack, which is insufficient for a monster like the Mallet.
