After lots of hard work...

Managed to run a few trains on the new extention. So much fun having 2 complete loops to just set off 2 trains and not have to worry too much about them and sit back and relax!
The new viaduct turned out very nicely which im very pleased about as me and my dad went in with the 'make it up as we go along' philosophy  I had to chop down a couple of rather large trees a couple of weeks back and decided that the timber would make a cool looking rockery type thing behind the viaduct so we just filled in the gaps and with soil and planted a few plants in there... again very please with the out come on that. Here are a couple of snaps I took just as it was getting dark but will try and get some more up soon.

Thanks! Got some grass matting coming on monday.... get some greenery around the station i think, should make it looks a little less 'pebblely'

Brilliant , Nice porsche

What do you make your platforms out of ?

So much fake grass too choose from so fingers crossed this stuff will work out ok.

Steve, the platforms are made out of plywood, painted a grey colour and the top was done with a spray that leaves a coarse finish... my dad made them, think he said he got it from Wilkos but i can double check. Looks really good and has a great texture. Oh and my dad is a huge porsche fan so one had to creep onto the layout somewhere :)

Brilliant we like platforms

I have used somthing call fleckstone made by plasticoat give a nice stone effect to any flat surface. Come in various shades and coulours but not sure about its suitability for outside use?

I've used the plastikote fleckstone outside on some buildings, and its been fine after a couple of years.
I especially liked the map pin insulators on the telegraph poles. Tomorrow lunch we shall be going to Staples !

They have worked a treat! Nice and cheap alternative..... had a few of them come unstuck after a year or 2 but nice and easy to fix.
