Accucraft 28T Shay RC Conversion?

Hello,

wondered if anyone has converted one of these Shays to radio control and if so whether you would be happy to share some images.

I'm thinking servo and Fosworks receiver under the cab floor behind the dummy firebox with a waterproof 4 x AAA Lithium battery pack in the space beside the water pump.

May fit a servo to the reverser as I have done to my Decauville and Falk by replacing the Johnson bar but probably not necessary with a Shay.

Any info would be appreciated.

Regards,

I'll be watching with interest as I have its near relative the 3 cyl' Mich Cal version. I bought it as with all that built in inertia I felt it could manage without RC. But with the developments by Fosworks of compact TX & RX control units the thought to add RC has become quite appealing. That and my older age :giggle: My first thought would be to mount the batteries in the cab roof rather than risk drowning in water, common practice with Roundhouse locos.

As Max says, good advice about the batteries. Ease of access for the batteries always a good plan, i have 3 live steam locomotives with Fosworks RC installed and can confirm to the ease of use particularly with a nice modest sized Tx.
