I have been a lurker for a while and here is my latest project!
Models of EBT flat cars.
#63 is a 29.6ft and #88 is longer 33.4ft. Both these featured end gate for transporting paperwood.
Pete Thornton did a much more detailed version than me a while back.
So did Kevin Strong, Kevin provided me with the info of lengths for these cars and numbers.
I used the Wayne Spence drawings for #63 and drawings posted on LSC by Jon Radder for the #88.

The frame was a lengthened plastic one

Stan Cedarleaf did the decals and they seem to blend in nicely.

The wooden top was a very annoying to do. I used wire wool and vinegar, at first is turned the wood green! So it took lots of goes to get it to look decent. I don't think I left enough time for the rust to form before applying.

The planking- coffee stirrers were a pain too, warped, different sizes, ect. I tried to fill the gaps with Titebond glue. but the rust mixture made the glue darker brown, despite me sanding!

The #1 Kadee couplers will be installed soon hopefully- from the US.

Alec.

They look very well indeed, marvellous models. Welcome ! If I was ever in the market for a Bachmann Annie , it would have to be the E.B.T. one
Your blog is well worth a look too!

Very, very nice Alec. They just look 'right'. With all of using the coffee stirrers, there will soon be shortage at certain 'branded' beverage outlets!

Re:1:20.3 East Broad Top 'End Gate' Flats #63 and #88

They do look good and "fit for purpose" I purchased a large boxful of stirrers from ebay but found they are not parallel - both ends taper inwards slightly starting about 40mm from the extremities - so frustrating!

Nice stuff - but equally intriguing is the dual gauge

Tell us more :onphone::onphone:

Re:1:20.3 East Broad Top 'End Gate' Flats #63 and #88

Thanks everyone!
The guage is F and Fn3 (70.64mm and 45mm) All is handlaid code 250 alluminium on wooden ties. The fully dual gauge turnout is about 3 ft long, #6 frog. More to do yet for that part of the layout, hopefully next year. There is some more pictures and info to be found on my blog.

Welcome to the forum Alex.

I found the dual gauge point build on your blog to be most interesting....
