Hadn't seen this topic until I was pointed in this direction!

The "Rocket of China" 2-4-0/0-6-0 loco does actually have a (very) vague similarity with the 2' 6" gauge 0-6-0T's supplied by Ransomes and Rapier of Ipswich to China in 1875 for the first railway line there (Shanghai & Woosung Tramroad). Perhaps someone saw a photo of one of those and came up with this loco!

Now if they did a decent model of one of those, that would be interesting.............

Rocket of China was the first steam loco built in China in 1881 for a British owned railway, hence the name.

Didn't know that - just happened to have a copy of Keith Haltons book on Ransomes and Rapier locomotives sitting by the computer....

You learn something new every day!!!! :D

PS - Just looked at your posted link - very interesting article.

The Porter has now appeared on the STO Racing website................... but at a price that I don't think they will sell many when you compare it with what else is available!
