Anyone out there had experience with Zimo digital and their sound units with reference to the Dappen sound

in anticipation thanx

I presently have about 7 of his recordings in various engines. Hate paying the extra cost but love the sounds. Once you learn the wiring for his projects they are all very similar.

I've got two of the Zimo 695kv's with his sounds, one in a Krok and one in a USAT SD40-2. I usually am a Massoth guy but went Zimo because of the onboard servo capability (for use in Krok for pantos) and in the SD40-2 because Massoth didn't have that particular sound. I discovered that the sounds are fantastic, and slow speed control is excellent. For the Krok I didn't have to play with any of the CV's for accel/decel etc., it was already set up really well. For the SD40-2 I had to run the automated routine to finalize the BEMF settings but after that it was really good. The ability of the decoder to connect directly to the USAT smoke maker is also great, and it's neat to see it well coordinated with engine load etc.
At first I was overwhelmed with the manual and how different they are compared to programming Massoth decoders, but after spending a few hours learning the ins and outs it's amazing what is possible with them.

Keith..

Sound aside, I would be interested in seeing how you did the Krok Pantographs, if I could persuade you to start a topic please.

I use 5 volt relays for the pantos.
One relay picks the direction (F8 sound on and panto up) and the other picks the panto (F7)
It is possible to have both up or both down (storage).
I also use a relay for selecting single right rear light for rail vs dual rear red leds for street running.

When you say you use relays for pantos'..
Do you just mean for switching, or are they modified to do the actual moving of the pantographs?
