You will need some vision to see this...

tramcar trev

all manner of mechanical apparatus...
I'm going to convert a Bachmann enclosed tram into a Baldwin Steam Tram look alike... As I can only attach 1 pic can you go and see my plans on my blog?

I got my specs out (but didn't need them). Yep can def see where you're going:thumbup:

Gets my vote too - get the saw out and take a deep breath....

I can still only post a pic at a time so...
I have seen one of these cut in half and and joined to another one and made into a very nice bogie tram. My suggestion before anyone try's this is to make sure your razor saw is sharp and not biased, mine wanted to cut to one side which meant I had to cut well away from the line and sand it back till I got a good fit..... I used the old fine sandpaper glued to an A4 sheet of ply trick to get it all straight and true, though some filler will still be needed. The end has to be cut away but I left it intact so that its all held together until the glue sets, then I can start taking out the ends.... Removing the bumper and trimming the end platform has also helped with the illusion.
Ok the file upload failed and its 155kb.... Back to the blog.. sorry

It's funny, my razor saw/s cut to one side - maybe because there is no kerf on the teeth?
Yes even single pics fail - its getting more difficult (impossible) to use certain sections of the Forum.

On the subject of trams, I remember you posting a pic of a tramway hearse, which seemed to be a cut-down enclosed car (horse or electric). I wonder who provided the bodies for the Baldwins - Stephenson's maybe - or did Baldwins build their own as they did with wooden loco cabs?

The hearse is (its been preserved) a trailer built at Randwick workshops and the Baldwin's were imported with the wooden body but they were modified here later.

Maybe some tweaking is required so pics can be posted?

Interesting facts about the Hearse. I'd just wondered about the Baldwins - I imagined they came complete - any danger of fire?

And tweak? Maybe the proposed new software is in the offing?

I can't find any obvious references to fires except 103A which was severely damaged by an arson attack but has now been rebuilt....

Mind you, come to think about it, I suppose its no different to a wooden cab (or wooden boiler lagging).

Really interesting blog, Trev. Thanks for the info on casting. Must get back into that - have got a few ideas for things I could cast.
