Hi all,

I'm having a nightmare trying to get a Massoth XLS to operate the pantographs and dashboard lighting. I've got a pic off the Massoth Wiki site, but can't seem to get it to work. Has anybody managed to do it? The image below has been taken from the Massoth site and shows the boards I've got. Being mainly an ESU user, I've not used any SUSI gear before. From the manual, am I right that CV49 has an effect on how SUSI works? Any help much appreciated as I'm pulling my hair out trying to get it working.

Yes with Massoth eMotion decoders CV 49 bit 4 (starting at bit 0) sets whether the bus is LGB (off) or SUSI (on). By default it is on (value decimal 19).
I don't have a model with pantograph or other servo motor so can't advise further based on experience.
The German language Massoth wiki has a couple of circuit diagrams that are not on the English pages, here, a PDF for the Ge 4/4 II or III:

Well Andy,
The shown setup doesn’t work.
There is a better working solution for that, I will look it up after the weekend.

Hi Wilco,

Thanks for confirming that it won't work. Looking at which connections have switches in, I can't see how the boards would even power up. Would be very grateful if you could share your solution to get these to work. :)
Massoth's reply was very much that it should work, but no further guidance was offered...

Hi Wilco, Just wanted to check a few points:-

-Is it the 4way power switch plugged in, and the overhead selection switch with the green wire on one pin?
-The blue wire with the crosses, is that not connected?
-The pink drawn on line-is that just a straight link between those two pins?
-is there any programming required (cv's set up) to make it work?

Cheers :)

Hi Andy,
See my answers below your questions.
Regards,
Wilco

-Is it the 4way power switch plugged in, and the overhead selection switch with the green wire on one pin?
Yes

-The blue wire with the crosses, is that not connected?
Yes, disconnected

-The pink drawn on line-is that just a straight link between those two pins?
Yes, connection of pin 2 and 3

-is there any programming required (cv's set up) to make it work?
No, you can't change the CV settings of the pantograph print

CV54=7

It should work with F7 and F3:
F7: Change of pantographs with running direction
F7: No pantographs change but;
F3: back panto up
F3: front panto up
F3: back panto down
F3: front panto down

Cheers :)

Hi Wilco,

I've put the link in, and taken out the blue. Also changed cv54 to 7. Still no good... Have you got any other ideas? Would you be able to show your complete cv values so I can compare?

Hi Andy,

I did try this out on a LGB Ge 4/4 III 643.
With a Massoth XLS it worked just fine.
I will look into it after Christmas.
Still too busy with work.

Regards,
Wilco

Hi Andy,

It took me a while to find some time for this one.

Massoth:
- XLS decoder FW 4.1
- RhB Ge 4/4 III sound
- On board adapter

Just check the following CV's:

CV49 = 2; Massoth (LGB) bus
CV50 = 4; light dimmer
CV54 = 7; Aux 1 = F7

With these CV's it works just fine on my 643:
- Lights
- Pantographs
- Motors

If needed I can send you the Massoth CV file.
Just let me know.

Kind regards,
Wilco

Addition:

CV29 = 54

Massoth
- XLS decoder FW 4.01
- RhB Ge 4/4 III sound 8230260 FW 4.1

Don't program any sounds on F3 and F7.
Because the pantograph sound up and down is synchronised with the movement at F7 and F3.

F7 = Pantograph mode: up and down changing with direction or manual mode with F3
F3 = Pantograph manual mode: up and down at front and rear

Didn't know that. Interesting.

Just digged it up:

Massoth:
- XLS decoder FW 4.1
- RhB Ge 4/4 III sound
- On board adapter

In combination with the picture in #6

Just check the following CV's:

CV29 = 54;
CV49 = 2; Massoth (LGB) bus
CV50 = 4; light dimmer
CV54 = 7; Aux 1 = F7

With these CV's it works just fine on my 643:
- Lights
- Pantographs
- Motors

An other approach could be the Massoth Pantograph pcb.
Then the XLS only has to work the motors and sound.
