Wot I've been up to recently

How many of us have laid down a track design thinking it's fine... and then having a feeling that it's not quite right and more could be made of it? I felt so odd about it that I actually lost interest for a while.
Luckily, a load of gravel became spare that had to be used up, so I sat down and had a think about what was wrong.

It came to me that my track was basically an oval and there wasn't much 'viewing interest' in it and any buildings would be stuck in the middle - and look like they are stuck in the middle. Some hours spent on AnyRail resulted in a small but rather significant alteration. Just add a small 'S' bend.
I now have a station/village area and a level crossing leading to a section which I can use for whatever I fancy.

And the 'fiddle yard'/steam up area can be developed at a later date.
