Worth a look

A little bit cheeky, but they do it all the time..

It is 'Vale of Rheidol Trading', selling a pdf models kit, and only posting pictures of prototype loco's..
Not really sure how they get away with it? Even the advertising copy is lifted from the pdf models website.
 
At least the trading company aren't passing them off as their own work.
Nice kits, but need a fair amount of prep work due to the 3D printing. I had a look at them at Bressingham and was very tempted
 
I guessed it was a PDF models kit, as a few PDF kits have also appeared on ebay - but the prices are pretty reasonable, and the quarry Hunslet is both attractive and reasonably priced.

Sure, the picture is obviously of the real thing, but while there's quite a lot of rolling stock for the UK modeller, there's not a huge amount of reasonably priced steam outline locos.
 
By all means include a picture of the prototype but as it is a model kit it should be headlined by a picture of all the kit parts laid out, intstruction sheet and a picture of a finished kit, if needs be from the makers site. No parts should be shown that are not in the kit being offered.

I get fed up, looking at 009 offerings in paricular, where just the kit box only is shown and not the contents. A good way of not attracting all the bidders or buyers you might. :banghead: Max

I still think, for the price, it's worth looking at if you're into UK outline :nod: :nod:

I have to say that, having been brought up with instructions written on paper since a child (Mechano, Bayko and some others building systems, then Airfix, Tamiya and on to various white metal 00 locos) Youtube instructions are a bit of a shock, but they look pretty comprehensive, as does the kit :clap: :clap:
 
For the price, don't forget it's all there motors gear box wheels etc, excellent value, probably not up to pulling much more than a few wagons but for something to trundle round your empire, brilliant

They seem quite resilient, and pull remarkably well..

The only worry I have is if the motion-parts will have the longevity? - Not 100% sure what material these are printed in?

There are brass bushes in the con rods etc :nod: :nod:

They only have to pull, not push, and most of the work is done on the driving axle, the front axle is usually a helper in our sort of models - they don't work quite like the real thing.

The problems with model loco motion often occur with poor quartering or lack of play in the motion.

Some LGB models had issues (the 0-6-2 was notorious) but then they have gearing inside, so if the gearing isn't perfectly aligned with the quartering, then you have big snappings.

Personally, if I were running UK outline, I'd snap one up (OK, probably not the best metaphor :D:D )- I'd love to hear from someone who has one :nod: :nod:

Ah, the one I was tempted by is the Baldwin 50 hp gas mechanical - however, da shed has a space issue ................ not as in Dan Dare :oops::oops::oops:
