Work on The Waterloo Creek Railway - June Update.

Well its been a while since i started thinking up plans for the all new 2010 version of my railway but after a couple of false starts i have begun making the changes.

I have at last sorted out a train shed that i have placed at the top end of the garden. This was a little trickier that i first thought due to the fact it needed to be lowered to allow railway to run through it. But with a little help from my brother inlaws all was sorted in the end.

Here is a pic of the shed and the amount of work still to do just in this corner.

Today i also started playing around with the shelving system i plan to fit in shed. I am hoping that this system will give me room for at least 40 items of stock maybe a bit more as some stock is on the short side or can be stacked without any problems.

The picture attached shows the basic frame work which will be topped off to form some basic cheap and workman like shelving, which is all i really need.

Re:Work on The Waterloo Creek Railway starts.

Thanks mate.

You should start to see a bit more of me round here from now on as the weather improves and i have finally worked out the new track plan as i am excited about getting work started so that i can some trains again. Which means plenty of work in progress pictures to post.

I am about to rejoin the GSS as well as i have settled into my new job now and want to be a bit more active in the G Scale scene again miss talking to and seeing other G Scalers.

Re:Work on The Waterloo Creek Railway starts.

Thanks Jeff.

They are some old LGB items i got when i first got into the American scene. Got a good deal on them at GRS as i brought three, can't remeber how many years ago that was now though.

Even got some done inside as well.

The shelves on the back wall are now all in place and some stock in place to show how it should work when all done.

Re:Work on The Waterloo Creek Railway starts.

Well today mainly saw me removing the old station layout as it's going to be moving to the opposite side of the garden with the new layout.

I also threw a bit of track about to get an idea of where i will need to either lift or cut and slabs, must give the old man a nudge and get the big cutter back again.

Looks like this new layout is going to need an extra complete circle of R3 curves, should of kept the many i sold off over the years as i downscaled as i knew i would want to make some changes in the future and need them. I never learn!

Keep an eye out on the sales section of the forum as i release some stock items to help fund this as track has shot up in price since i last brought any. I think i will give the Aristocraft track a go as Jeremy at Dragon Gscale seems to do them at a good price. , as Ebay is a little short on cheap scondhand track at the moment.

It seems odd at the moment as i am now going backwards and lifting track rather than moving forward and laying track, never mind when the rain stops work will start moving in the right direction again.

Re:Work on The Waterloo Creek Railway starts.

Bit by bit things are changing here on Waterloo Creek.

The station has now been lifted and new track loosely laid out.

The station buildings have all go to go and area in between tracks will be for planting to help break up lines.

Re:Work on The Waterloo Creek Railway starts.

Also the landing strip of a patio is slowing being reduced in size.

This is now possible due to dog getting old and not needing garden to run about on and little one has grown up now and does not need room for paddling pool, swing or any of the other outdoor toys she used to play with.

So the garden is being changed back into a place for both Denise and myself to sit back and enjoy in peace with a bigger railway for me and lots more planting areas for my better half to digg about in.

Here is a couple of pictures showing the start of the changes to bottom of garden by pond.

I am now stuck again as the rain is falling again. Also going to need cutter from my dad to sort out getting track across path and to add a couple of half slabs along edges of patio.

Re:Work on The Waterloo Creek Railway starts.

Things have moved on, slowly mind, on the Waterloo Creek railroad and more track has gone down, temp but its on the ground, and all the slabs that need to be lifted have been, 28 in total.

The Shed is now in place and track flaps finished and shed painted.

Also i have cut the first part of the path crossing. Started with a single crossing first to try out my new idea, well new to me anyway.

I have squared the cuts and then sunk the cut out section. I will then screw the track to this lowered section which will mean the track top will be level with top of path. I hope this will give me a neat and strong path crossing for track.

I will now move onto the double crossing a little further up over the next few days and try this new idea again, fingers crossed.

Re:Work on The Waterloo Creek Railway starts.

nice to see the progress jasion, is the cutting throught the flags wide enought?

Re:Work on The Waterloo Creek Railway starts.

Nice to see your line Jason.

Re:Work on The Waterloo Creek Railway starts.

Looking good. I like the path crossing idea - neat and practicle.

Re:Work on The Waterloo Creek Railway starts.

Thanks guys.

Mike the narrow cutting through path should be ok as the track sits level with the path so the running gear and over hang of engines and stock will clear the top of the path ok.

I hope to sort out a track plan from what i had to what i plan to having soon to show just whats been relaid, moved and added to.
