The carriages are turn of the century NZ railway stock, scratch built using marine ply and jarrah and kauri strip wood, from plans published in the NZ Model Railway Journal. The guards coach is freelance. Wheels, bogies, couplings brake hoses and torpedo vents are commercial castings.
Thanks for that. I'd assumed they were NZR prototypes from the colour scheme, and on having a look at the slides I took on my visit to NZ in 1993, I had taken a photo of a clerestory coach of that type preserved on the Pleasant Point line.
I think that was the only coach of that type I saw (or at least photographed) in NZ though.
