No more drift from me. (Now back on track.)
BROOKLYN's first visit to the paint shop.
I think she's going to look OK in 'crimson lake'.
(Alright, so it's actually Vauxhall Burgundy red, but it was the closest Halfords had to what I was looking for.)
The cab will be the same colour, but still needs the bits that will be black and the interior masking off. (Ran out of daylight.)

Not so much what happened at my workbench, as my workbench happening. Last October half term Mrs Northsider got fed up with 'all your railway crap' (it's fair to say mine is not a shared interest...) lying around the house. 'Why not get a shed to work in?' says she. So I start looking, decide on a log cabin (not so cold in winter), which evolves into a custom-build log cabin. Then Covid strikes and everyone is working from home, meaning the log cabin company stops their custom work to concentrate on off-the-shelf sales. So I look around and find a local company that makes rather fancy, heavily insulated cedar-clad buildings using a core of SIP panels, with double-glazed windows, heating etc. Budget grows accordingly, and suddenly it's built: plastered, wired, painted and floored (in two weeks). So today I have started installing the workbench so I can have machinery set up permanently...

Yes, I saw that; and a garage/car port just crying out for something small and sporty!
I used 1mm flat backed nail jewels, E-bay is as good as anywhere to find them.
Look at the photos of Brooklyn, my Porter kitbash, the ones used on the cab adaptor plate (Pic attache.)d are 1mm, but you can get them up to 5mm and in any colour you want.
The bigger ones make for good (Non functional.) marker lights.

A bit further along. Cab now in first coat. Just the cab doors left to paint. Then a 48 hour hardening off period before masking up for the black details.
Cab windows and roof hatch still all slide as they should., so that's a plus.
Everything's still very shiny at the mo, but once its received the satin lacquer coat, it should tone it all down a tad.
Getting there slowly. (It's been a bit of a pig, what with the workbench all packed away, so she's a real coffee table job.)

Well, that isn't mine, 'cos I haven't taken a photo of mine yet (and it's a bit earlier than mine) but the colour's the same - the difficulty being that the sort of boxes that interest me are more red and yellow.
With the rocket-ship Japanese engine? The car got a bad press at the time, but it has aged well, hasn't it? Up there with the Gilbern GT, the Reliant Sabre and the Bond Equipe GT 2+2: each one beautiful, and lost. :-(
Oh yeah, I know, thread drift: this is about cars, and not trains. It will all work out in the long run. Trust me.
