This time last year I was in the middle of a track extension that ended up encompassing, cliffs, mountain passes, tunnel & bridges, and water in the shape of a Canal Basin

but although I had tried several temporary track layouts in the dock area, nothing was settled on permantly, just a few odd bits of track for a photo shoot or two

Picture from june

no water, no track on the dockside

So I thought I would get up to date with what has been happening on the dockside

First up, 'Canal basin' sounded so banal?, so as I had just got a new pc monitor that came with free speakers, I decided to call it Wharfdale

Without the 'E' in the middle

as when googling for Wharfedale, the real place is far prettier than this would be!!!!!!

Some of you may remember the cheap track I tried a couple of years back when completing the 'Gallery' section

Base & top off a venitian blind separated with some spare Aristo sleepers

Although it worked OK, I decided not to use it in the tunnel system as I thought it would get a lot of use and wear through quickly as it was only thin steel base of some venitian blinds

So as the dock is a dead end with mostly stationary traffic I thought, try it there.
But as it would not be hidden in a tunnel I needed to make it more realistic

As it was going to be buried up to rail head in concrete, I wanted to make the outer flange dissapear, so out with the pliers

First turn the top down

then turn the double bit

so its down flat

After 8 ft of that I ended up with blisters!!

Cheap track in place on wharf, buried up to rail height in concrete,

which also happens to be the same height as the dock baulk edging

Also loading dock placed so as to hide tree stump.

The wall is to retain the stone from falling into & blocking the drainage channel, less maintenance
