WGRG January Running Afternoon

9th January was a perfect sunny Sunday for the Wellington Garden Railway Group's visit to Ian W's railway. Ian's railway is primarily live steam with some battery power to boost the roster.

Ian's fleet lined up on the deck ready for action...

Ian's scratch built batter powered bush jigger / rail truck.
There is a smoke generator powering the twin exhaust stacks...

Ian attending to his Accucraft Shay.
Murray's Lady Louise (a Roundhouse Lady Ann) on the mainline...

The Shay has been given wooded running boards, weathering and some other tweaks to personalise it. There is a water pump in the bunker..

A fine plume of steam as the Shay pulls out of the yard.
The log bogies are a mix of scratch build and kits...

In the siding is a rake of Ian's scratch built from Welshpool plans.

Next in steam was Ian's Accucraft NG16 here running around it's goods train...

and simmering away awaiting "the off".

Based on Burkes station complex that used to be near Dunedin is Ian's scratch built Neas Creek station...

Coal merchant hard at work, he didn't get Sunday off!

If the coal merchant would turn around he'd have a fine view of Chris's Frank S pulling into Neas Creek

Next to take it's turn at steaming the lemons is Chris's Accucraft Forney, now radio controlled and runs rather well

A guard grabs the chance for a quick read while awaiting a crossing. Perhaps the paper reads "Date line 9th January - Forney hauled log train derailed leaving Neas Creek"?

Seems the Sunday paper is a pressing read at Neas Creek.

No steam from my Dubs A, it's Revolution controlled battery power

Last to steam for the afternoon was Ian's Pearse Leek & Manifold E.R. Calthrop

The Pearse L&M E.R. Calthrop turn to steam the lemons.
The 6 wheel transporter wagon is Leek and Manifold built from GRS kits.

That video has the first live steamer that I've ever heard that sounded 'good'. Live steam aint for me, but I like watching!

Great pictures. Only one problem. Its not nice to tease us colder climate people. Running trains in T-shirts, shorts, everything green, and lemons on the trees. Rub it in. LOL The pictures warmed me up as I look at my thermometer and it reads 16F with a major snow storm on the way.

Great detail there John. Especially like the E R Calthrop loco of the L&MVLR, close to where I live I quite often cycle down the old track bed........
