Weekly Digest/Summary emails

No - I got mine Saturday.

Never had 1

There's an option to turn this off and on (or on and off depending on your point of view) in your account settings. Maybe that's got itself in a twist?

To find out, click on your login name at top right corner of the forum page (between your avatar and the envelope symbol for conversations) to get the drop down menu to show, then from the drop down select 'Weekly Digest' (you should see it under 'ignoring' and above 'Ads manager') .

Check in there to see if you have a tick in the box next to 'Unsubscribe' if you do, tick subscribe, save that change, away you go!

However, if you show a tick next to 'subscribe', given that computers are involved (and you're also sure that for the first time in living memory it hasn't been consigned to spam by your email program), I would suggest that you unsubscribe yourself, save that change, then nip back to the same page and then subscribe again and save that change! May seem a bit ridiculous but the number of times I've been caught out by check boxes saying one thing and doing an other, is so numerous that I'd be a slightly richer man had I been paid a £1/$1 for them all!

Hopefully one or the other of my suggestions will kick the electrons into order and something approaching normality will return the next time these emails are sent out....fingers crossed :)

Apologies if any of this is not new to you or you've already been there and checked already...

Rather than have mine go the spam, I turned off the option sometime ago.

Thanks for the thought. I have never seen one go to my spam - they used to arrived reliably in my inbox, then just stopped coming.
I use Firefox, and the updates have an occasional habit of losing all my cookies, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if that did something - though I am still logged in when I go to GSC.

I am currently tagged as 'subscribe'. You suggestion to 'unsubscribe' and then retry is a good one. Having worked the the computer business for years, I am would not be surprised if that solved it! I will go one better and re-subscribe in a couple of days. . .

Still not working. Weird.
Fred,

As you say much weirdness...

Whilst it's of no comfort to you, I can confirm that they are still being sent out as I received mine Saturday morning.

Thinking on.. I'm assuming that when you check the 'subscribe' or the 'unsubscribe' box, programmatically this adds or removes your email address from a file/list of 'users to receive the Weekly Digest', held somewhere in the bowels of the software that makes up this Forum. As there is no option on the Weekly Digest page to add a 'new' email address, I further assume that this process uses the one which is shown on the 'Account details' part of your user profile, so I suppose the next thing to do is to trot over there and check that your email address is correct and has not somehow become corrupted? That said I suspect you may well already be getting other notifications from this forum via email, so that may drive a coach and horses through that idea...

Having just viewed that page of my own profile, I notice that there are two further email options directly beneath the section where you can update your own email address, 'Receive news and update emails' and 'Receive activity summary email', I wonder if by any chance that if a tick is missing from either (or both) of those, perhaps they gang up in a curious double negative style whereby the 'logic' says.. "well he's not got a tick in that box, so he can't really want that weekly digest email after all". Of course you may already like me have ticks in place for both options, so I have to admit to have engaged in some gratuitous straw grasping with my suggestion, but like I said before there's a computer involved!

And apologies again if any of this is not new to you or you've already been there and checked already...

Ultimately the only resolution may well be to ask Paul our administrator to have a look under the bonnet (as it were) to see if he can find a reason for your continued non-receipt of the Weekly Digest.

Even weirder - now there is no "Weekly Digest" option for my account.

The weekly digest has been discontinued as the person that wrote the add on wants paying far too much for the software.

Fred, I was just about to begin the process of telling you that I was in the same position, with much pontificating about the possible reason to follow, however Paul beat me to it with the real reason to its disappearance!

Not going to miss that, never truly understood the algorithm that made it work. But then we know that the a word can be a bit controversial, particularly in 2021.

I have never asked for the weekly roundup [consciously] but received 3 this morning, two in my normal inbox and one in my junk one. Dutifully unsubscribed the two then deleted all three.
Hopefully that has corrected the issue but one never knows.
Strange bugs exist in computer software sometimes that pop up in unexpected places...
A new week and some sunshine after quite a bit of rain earlier, looking forward to flu and Flu shots.
Carry on carrying on,
Monty
