The only chance I had to have a look around was at 8 am before it opened or trains ran..

Great to finally meet you Mike. Even Mrs 5H17 was noticeably impressed by the standard of the G Scale layouts on display, which has led to more planning permission being granted. Bonus.

Personally I thought the show was much nicer this year from an attendees point of view. More space, wider aisles, less bottlenecks to fight your way through. Can't imagine that the traders would agree with that though...

Spent 3 days at the NEC on a society stand

Bought 3 x used wagons from GRS.
Blue Allegra is very nice
DB hoppers are tempting

Bought some reed switches for a friends automation project...just a bit too big to go inside LGB 17000's but will be fine

Spent £0 on catering as took my own

Spotted the round robin boxcar and the snowplow

G scale soc stand always busy when I passed

Coveted the blue croc on the NW G layout

Briefly met PhilP to arrange collection of 'incoming goods'

Is it only 2 years since 'Shades of the Harz' was at the show?

More space (bigger aisles), a lot more chairs (though not enough tables), less total exhibits.. Possibly (according to traders) less custom this year.
Was that Matt by any chance? He said that to us Saturday evening. Certainly was busy and a couple of traders I know said they did well. A big stand is expensive but showing off the wares to future customers is a big thing. I'm sold on some bits for smaller scale projects as I got hands on there but not ready to buy just yet as other things to buy for some big do in December, 25th rings a bell . . .

Not only Matt..
A Warley 'insider' suggested there is a problem with not enough new-blood (or interested parties) to take on the agro of organising something of this size...
The costs of the Warley show must be eye-watering!?

Despite what is in the media, I think belts are having to be tightened still. This also has an effect on decisions of which shows to visit. The cost of a couple of tickets (and parking) make a sizable dent in the amount available for purchases.

The costs of the Warley show are indeed eye watering - I know because I make all the payments.
Despite the costs the show has always managed to have a positive effect on club funds. This only happens because so many members give their time for free to support the exhibition.

Sad to think that we have seen the last of the Sud Harz on the circuit. Sorry never saw you Paul, you were off Layout on my visit and there was a lot to see. Plus Beer to drink. Looking forward to the HOm version.
