Hi all,
Does anyone have or know where I can get a pair of traction tyres for an old rc, plastic wheeled big hauler 4-6-0?
Either that or a set of metal wheels that would fit her?
Cheers,
Paul.

What diameter are the drivers(?) Paul?

Mine run fine without them!

You can't buy them but you might be able to make some from a bike tyre inner tube if you cut with a scaple and a steel ruler.

I think I've got some somewhere. Give me a couple of days and I'll see if I can find them.

Will someone, with one, please.........................

MEASURE THE WHEELS!!!!!!

Or, you can just use a USA Trains one... They will stretch far enough for the biggest LGB, which are like rocking-horse nuts to find..

I made some out of bicycle inner tubes 2" x 20" roughly, thinly sliced.

I knew I had some Paul. They have the appearance of being cracked or possibly perished. I tried to carefully remove one but it seems to be 'stuck' so was reluctant to force it. Does anyone know if they were glued in place to prevent slipping? Any way you're welcome to these just for the cost of postage if you think they'll be any good (Royal Mail small parcel £2.95). The wheel diameter for those interested parties is 50mm.

Hi,
Managed to fit a set of 37.5mm LGB tyres to it. A tight fit, but at least they won't fall off in a hurry. Plus they don't sit as proud as the originals.
Loco now re-wired to run on track power through a voltage dropper circuit (Pick ups on tender wheels.) (Ex Northern lights tender chassis.) Plus now also switchable to battery power with a charging circuit that charges the battery through a splitter / voltage regulator when track powered. Only forward motion at a set speed on the battery (9.6V) at the mo, but will receive rc gear when I get around to it.
Paul.
