Picked this up on a recent trip to Belgium.
Its a Draisine KLV 20 in DB livery by Brekina
It has a digital interface, can be fitted with sound and has working lights.
The scale is supposed to be 1/22.5 but the driver looks a bit too small.
Something a bit different though.

Runs OK but can stick on points as it only picks up on rear wheels, a modification may be required. Its also very light.

I'm not sure there was much converting done here; looks to me like they simply took the tires off the rims and viola - a rail truck  . BTW, isn't that an old British Army truck - WWII vintage if I'm not mistaken.

Why have a truck when you can have a Packard?

[img=http://www.imcdb.org/images/042/140.jpg]

Just Ask the Man Who Owns One!:)

Too bad the VW T2 is a postwar model....I would love one. I have a lot of Brekina models for my H0e layout. They are really nice as far as finish and detail.

Having flanged wheels, it'll behave in the usual way......................in theory

If you have a bit of patience on Google, you can find all sorts of weird vehicles adapted to run on rails, just simply by changing the wheels to flanged.

this opens up all sorts of possibilities on the garden railway, including, I seem to remember, an attempt at a jet powered car

There was a vid on youtube somewhere

Sorry

Just picked up on the real question - the double flanges.

Different sort of turnouts. best pictures that I know of trackwork for double flanged wheels are from the Welsh Votty & Bowyd (think that's how you spell it) 2 ft quarry railway in Blaenau Ffestiniog.

Basically, the blade isn't chamfered down, and the blades and part of the stock rails slide across, pivoting near the frog. Difficult to describe, 'cos it's difficult to fathom out even when you see a picture

Some useful pics here:-

The large back door and the lack of overhang on the front roof make this quite an early type 2 ?
