Hillwalking, chickens and - err - garden railways.

Recently I acquired a Bachmann American style passenger/parcel car. V s/h it looked as if it had been painted in high gloss paint with a rusty nail in the dark.
Not fancying stripping it back I decided to try matt varnish first.
Current mobility issues meant visiting my closest model shop wasn’t a favoured option and so I had a look online. All the usual familiar names looked to be overpriced and slow on delivery until I came across Vallejo acrylic. It is a name I had heard of but never encountered previously.
Minimum order was 3x17ml bottles, more than I really wanted but same day delivery.
I ordered at midday yesterday and the order arrived within 6hrs!
This morning I tried a brushed test piece - far too thick but as it is water soluble I added a little water to just a few drops.
The coverage is astonishing, those few drops of paint covered the entire sides and ends of the coach.
I now need to find a use for 2 bottles and 98% of the 3rd bottle.
My wife has taken up painting and so I foresee most if not all of it going there.
